I significantly cut out sugar/sweets 8 days ago. I’ve limited my carbs. Meal portions closely monitored. Water intake seriously increased. Going to bed an hour earlier. Exercised 5 days in a row and cardio planned later today. I’ve noticed drastic improvement in my plantar fasciitis pain right away when I cut the sugar and carbs. Pounds do not seem to be dropping. I’ve not been on the scales for a few days but I know when I’m losing. 🫤 I feel ok overall. Bit sore which is good. Every day. 2-4 pm. I hit a wall. I just want to crash on the sofa. Still struggling with the carb thing. I made chili. I could not stop myself. I ate an entire sleeve of saltines. When the chili was gone, I grabbed the reduced fat peanut butter that I LOVE. So far, that’s my only serious beach. Any tips or tricks to survive or enhance the infancy period?

Kogre You're taking the right steps, just giving in to the initial hunger that will eventually lessen as time passes. It's a discipline thing. I make myself accountable by weighing in every day. When you're about to give in to your hunger, grab a zero calorie carbonated drink and guzzle it down. Grab 2 or 3 and drink them if it helps abate your hunger. eventually, replace those with water.

I've been having the same issue but have managed to lose around 3kg/6.6lbs of "Christmas and holiday" weight, but most of that was probably water and glycogen.

You said you monitor portion size, do you weigh out your food and track calories? You don't have to, but it helps to get a better idea of the calories you're consuming in a day. After a few days, you don't need to carry on (I do).

Good luck!

FitInMy50s Thanks, brother. You look great! I’m not weighing portions technically but more just by sight and common sense. Last night, I ate a cup/bowl of chili. I made a grilled cheese sandwich on whole wheat. Normally, I’d grill two grilled cheese sandwiches and two plus cup/bowls of chili. I made the chili a little more healthy than usual. Lean beef, beans, low sodium broth etc. I’m not going crazy because I think just cutting back and not drastically changing will help with the success. Also, things like, no fast food or drive thu. With kids’ sports and practice all times of the day, it’s unavoidable at times. I just don’t get anything. I do as you suggested. Gulp water or Coke Zero to stop the craving. It’s hard but not as hard as catching that glimpse of my gut when I jump in the shower. 🙂👊🏼

Canadian_Kev do you workout fasted or do you eat before? Do you work out in the mornings, or later in the day?

I've quit sugar for 2 years now and can give some suggestions depending on your current routine, based on my experience over these couple years. I've gone through a few phases so can give advice depending on your routine.
